Holy crap this was phenomenal! No sequel to a movie about a side character from Shrek should be this good, but it is. This is one of the prettiest, most thrilling animated movies I’ve seen in a good while. It’s so well directed, with legitimately fleshed out characters, smooth pacing and a good baddie. It’s also hilarious. The Ethical Cricket had me in tears😂Don’t miss this on the big screen. It deserves all of the tickets it gets. There so much love and passion put in to this.

I went for my daughter but I think I ended up liking this way more than she did. Fantastic animation (that I expected) but also a really fun story and some great villains (surprises!).

Genuinely shocked at how good this is. Such a surprisingly great little story. Some real exceptional voice acting, and a script/plot that works for all ages. I would love to see this same animation style carry over to Shrek 5.

It features gorgeous, sometimes outright breathtaking, animation and a surprisingly affecting if straightforward story to go with it.

I must have seen a different film than everyone else. There were respectable elements: visuals in the style of classical paintings, spaghetti western influences and some surprisingly brutal scenes. But I never really got into it nor care about any of the characters; maybe Goldielocks & the bears excluded. I was also mixed on the antagonists: Jack Horner was lame, but the wolf was menacing. The whole magic forest section was a letdown and I would have preferred to see more period Spain instead.

Funny, exciting, nice to look at, rousing, well told. What a randomly out of nowhere great movie about a sidekick from another franchise. Also, I'm sure everyone will say the exact same thing if you ask them: the wolf... cool as hell.

Reccognized a lots of my favorite westerns in this one. Plus the animation was top-notch ! A huge step-up from the first movie.

A visual delight. There's a painterly texture to the backgrounds with a Spiderverse-esque influence from limited animation in the character movement and action. The movie does default to standard children's fare in a number of ways, like the comic relief dog, the moral of being grateful with what you already have, and I could leave the Goldilocks B-plot on the side. But, I mean, what do you expect? The aforementioned animation, great antagonists, and action sequences set this movie apart.

More gripping and memorable than expected. Many movies lack a menacing Heel; the wolf Death assassin in this was wicked. The rest spars between ambition and happiness; the pull towards a dream dragging us away from contentment/appreciation. Agreed that the forest itself was a poor setting for the story, but the characters and themes carry it through. Really enjoyable, and crafted well. There's a thread on bravery meaning nothing without stakes. Feels like a timely jab at Marvel and its imitators
