Stuart Townsend, who would later write and direct a movie called Battle in Seattle that has nothing to do with Nirvana, plays a rock star that has nothing to do with anything you'd want to watch.

All in all, it's a completely dreadful adaptation of a pretty cool book. Stuart Townsend's portrayal of Lestat is laughable. The movie replaces all the 80's music from the novel with drab, boring goth/industrial trash. Aaliyah acts almost entirely using bodily contortions and ridiculous facial expressions. Vital characters from the book are reduced to tiny, unexplained cameos at the end. Avoid this garbage unless you absolutely have to see every vampire film ever made.

This movie sucks on so many levels it's frightening. I thought "Interview" was a great movie, which just shows you that not all screen plays are written equally. The foundation of each movie's screen play are good works.

Bad acting, worse music, plot barely makes sense... basically an excuse for Townsend and Aaliyah to prance around looking pretty, which isn't, you know, the worst movie concept ever, but certainly not a good one.

Gay vampires playing goth music. Yeah, sounds awesome. I saw some dumb ass walking around campus with "THE VAMPYRE LESTAT" written on his backpack with whiteout. That means someone out there must like this crap.

knowing her fate, calling former person aaliyah "the queen of the damned" gains a whole new quality. if this was supposed to be her magnum opus, i'm terribly sorry, but "that ain't gonna fly". ok, that's enough. the movie sucks, and no, that's no vampire reference.

While I absolutely love the effects and the style of filming, this movie has just a little too much cheese. I don't feel that this should be characterized as a horror. Sci-fi, sure. Fantasy- ok. But their is nothing truly "scary" to be seen. On the flip side, the effects are just enough to add a little intrigue without being overbearing or farfetched. Their is also a clear dual story line that doesn't seem too ridiculous to be interceding.

Among the absolute worst movies of all time, if not the worst movie of all time. Makes Uwe Boll movies look like masterpieces. Even shit like Manos is more enjoyable. The fact that Aaliyah is dead is proof that there is some justice left in this world.

Imagine the most superficial and self-absorbed attention craving ignorant ever and you have this movie. It doesn't confuse me for a second that this was ranked the worst of 2002; it is as flat as a pancake and holds about as much color and interest as a bucket of wallpaper paste. It just amazes me that such a worthless picture can follow up An Interview With A Vampire which, although slightly off, was an interesting movie. Well, at least some of the songs in it are catchy.

A pretty shitty adaptation of what I consider Anne Rice's final book. Not to mention they skipped a book. You can't go from Tom Cruise to Stuart Townsend without some sort of explanation. And eight years is a long time to wait between films. Not to mention all the minor characters from the novel which were of some import that they just conveniently left out or otherwise failed to explain. Man... Not that I'm a huge fan of Rice, but I did enjoy the first film.

As a horror film, this fails miserably. Not for a single moment is anything even remotely frightening or suspenseful. But as a large-scale vampire tale, Rymer succeeds in creating one of the most shockingly erotic ones to come around in some time. Whether it was his intention or not to make this movie a pro-vampire flick, that's what it is. Who knew being one of the undead could come off seeming so sexually bewitching?

Is there any doubt Tom Cruise was a great casting choice after watching this? Of course, the story here is absolutely absurd, but it's still worth revisiting all of the controversary about Cruise being cast as LeStat after seeing what they came up with for the sequel.

If they renamed all the things in this film I would say it's a mediocre vampire movie that I may watch more than once over years. But they try to trick me into believing this is a Vampire Chronicles adaptation, and for that it should get a negative rating because it's a shame to the novels and characters.

You know a film's in trouble when the author of the book offers to help with writing and they turn her down. A major disappointment on all fronts. This routine vampire flick, dogged by pedestrian acting and uncharismatic characters (which is a problem given that Lestat is a rock star!). Stuart Townsend's wooden acting is cringe worthy when he delivers the script's laughably bad dialogue. Soundtrack, provided by Korn front man Jonathan Davis, is the only thing half decent in this mess.

I don't think its another lousy vampire movie, they perfectly followed the real fiction vampire characters, and Aaliyah's character was perfect as one of the 3rd generation vampire class.. Though the movie & story & ending & fiction was bad, can't say you would enjoy to watch, unless you have some huge interest in vampire classes..

Dour, grim vampire movie is a largely charmless and leaden gulag of turn-of-the-century goth trends, made even more trying by Townsend's bloodless (heh) rendition of Lestat (doing nothing to dispel fond memories of Tom Cruise), and a dreary story and production design that almost apes Coppola's DRACULA at times, without the style or fire. Aaliyah's turn as the titular Queen is fine, though she's treading a very well-worn path here; some amusing utilisations of Aussie actors in support cameos.
