A stellar performance by Nanni Morretti, who in communicating the lack of emotions after the death of his wife, is exploring some serious new grounds for minimalist acting. He's well directed of course - and that states what really makes this a charming film, is the directors attentive care for the small details.

Normally I'm not a fan of films were there isn't a strong plot but this one was wonderful. Beautifully shot, numerous little plots (most of which aren't fully resolved) and it's just generally so happy. It reminded me of Office Space despite not really being the same type of film.

Top badass moment? Pietro during most of the film. Taking proper, quality-time out to readdress your life is something we should all do from time to time, but rarely bother with. Addressing the big picture without considering the immediate implications of doing so is therefore badass. 0 cats and 0 decapitations.

A film that seems to go to great lengths to avoid being either honest or interesting. We know just about nothing of the protagonist's dead wife or the circumstances of her death and we don't really care. We are expected to believe that her little daughter takes mom's death very well only "because dad isn't suffering". We must then endure this facade for the majority of the film - which is rather dull to boot - waiting for some attempt to be made to account for it. Dishonest and barren.
