This heavily borrows from MIB. But compared to that franchise this never clearly establishes the rules of its world; can other people see the undead, seems they can but somehow there are no real world consequences of this. Besides this, overall it was quite enjoyable, mostly due to the Jeff Bridges and Ryan Reynolds combo.

One of those film you'd watch on a long-haul flight due to lack of viewing options and sheer boredom, but for some reason I chose to watch this in the comfort of my home with thousands of other films at my fingertips. In hindsight, a mistake. Sort of a combination of 'Men in Black' and 'Ghostbusters' but lacking all the qualities that make those memorable films. For starters, the cinematography (if you can call it that) is terrible and the CGI has aged poorly. Need I go on...

The comic adaptation business is really booming; they are even adapting the stories I have never heard of! It is in the mold of Hellboy and the potential to be a cute little spoof. With such decorated actors, you expect comedy to be more smooth; but it never really lifts off; it was like watching someone barely able to finish a marathon. You wouldn't miss much if you don't watch it. Reynolds proved later that he can actually lead this kind of comedy (i.e. Deadpool); he is underused here.

I don't know why the writers were too lazy to add in an extra 3 minute scene at the beginning. It would have made the first 10 minutes easier to follow. As for the rest of the movie, it was OK. There were definitely some humourous moments, but the script didn't take them far enough to be hilarious. Not a classic by any means, but still a decent movie

A pretty entertaining action flick with lots of humour thrown in for the fun of it. If you are one of these people who expect facts in a movie you will have a field day picking apart this flick. The effects and CG are well done and the veteran actors seem to be giving it their all.
