R.I.P.D.

Men in Black hunt the dead. If you enjoyed the Men in Black movies, then you should like R.I.P.D.

One of those film you'd watch on a long-haul flight due to lack of viewing options and sheer boredom, but for some reason I chose to watch this in the comfort of my home with thousands of other films at my fingertips. In hindsight, a mistake. Sort of a combination of 'Men in Black' and 'Ghostbusters' but lacking all the qualities that make those memorable films. For starters, the cinematography (if you can call it that) is terrible and the CGI has aged poorly. Need I go on...

This is one of the movies where I feel like they advertised EVERY funny part of the movie in the trailer. Redbox/ Discount theater type of movie.(one that you don't want to pay full price at a movie theater for)

When I first saw the trailers for this film, I was not sold. I seemed like a paranormal reboot of Men In Black. Which it fundamentally is. I did not hate it, however (perhaps a product of going in with low expectations.) The premise is cheesy and the plot blandly derivative. It is fun, though, and not unfunny. Nothing special, but I wouldn't say you should refuse to watch it.

It has its moments. But not enough.
