Rabid

You'd think Rabid, with its rough but metaphor-ripe setup, would be perfect for a remake, and the Soskas as fellow Canadian goremerchants would seem to be good standins for Cronenberg. And there are certainly bits that work; it's more streamlined, more coherent, with better character work, but also feels emptier; where Cronenberg always plays on transhumanism and Burroughs etc, the Soskas prefer to spell it out with no real payoff. Not weird enough.
