The film was made by colorful printing of footage combined with drawing directly on film. The bouncy music drives home the message heard at the end of the film, promoting the GPO (General Post Office): "The Post Office Savings Bank puts a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow for you. No deposit too small for the Post Office Savings Bank." (imdb)

The visuals didn't click with me, but you could say it's a cute one.

A weird, almost psychedelic color experience to advertise for the General Post Office. Not sure what to think. But it sure was.... something.

It's fine. Definitely impressive for the time it was created but the visuals just weren't really for me.

Avant-garde artist Len Lye dabbled in kinetic sculpture before turning to animation, where he found work in the GPO Film Unit which made films for the UK post office. Using the Gasparcolor process, he animates a burst of colour surrounding a series of animations of a man dancing before it culminates in an ad for a savings account you could open with the GPO. A really wild mix of cutting edge art and government sponsored capitalism.
