The chance to own $2 million. Locked up in a locker in New Mexico, these six contestants must now race each other, to be the first to the cash. This movie has what must be the worst ending of any movie ever. Other than that it's decent.

It's hard to accurately rate this movie when you're left with the disgusting aftertaste of Smash Mouth. Still, it's good to be true to yourself, stand your ground and say how you really feel, especially when those around you joke about your love of this movie.

It was ehn, it was like a bland holiday family dinner but then right at the end your uncle Smash Mouth takes you into the garage. Jon Lovitz “a dollar?!” forever. What the hell was Vince Vieluf?

People do silly things in silly situations. Basicially if you find that funny then you will like this movie. Sadly I don't find such things all that entertaining for an entire movie. Although it's not bad, it's just not anything special.

It was a crappy (perhaps not terrible) "Mad Mad Mad Mad World" ripoff and then it completely falls apart in the last five minutes. What the fuck?

It's impossible for a wacky ensemble comedy with this cast to be utterly devoid of humour, so be sure, Rat Race has *some* laughs. They come mostly from Cleese, Thomas, and Lovitz -- some of the other characters/plotlines have their moments, but others are just damn annoying. I'd forgive that somewhat, because when the jokes hit they are very funny, but holy fuck this is one of the worst ending I've seen in a film. I mean, I've seen some bad endings, but Smash Mouth? Is this happening?

The very definition of early 2000's aesthetic, down to the South Park-lite credits, blaringly-lit nothing-to-see-here cinematography, Cuba Gooding Jr., and Amy Smart, you are missed wherever you are. Likewise it's a terrible film somehow bettered by some moments of extreme comedy that push the boundaries of good taste, for the better. Like Hitler's Car. No, Smash Mouth still doesn't count, not sorry. But Lovitz could be playing Hitler's harmonica to All Star. See, that IS funny.

Its over-the-top plot contrivance-driven brand of comedy isn't particularly clever or subtle, of course, but so help me, some dud bits aside, I still laughed quite a bit (the Jewish Pear family in Hitler's car, Enrico and Zack delivering the human heart, and Owen with the bus full of Lucys were standout storylines) and Sinclair and his buds' ridiculous bets were a fun side-gag. The misguided attempt at a heartwarming ending sticks out like a sore thumb though (Smash Mouth+crowd surfing=eyeroll).

Maybe a few people too many (Rowen Atkinson, Vince Vieluf) so some interesting characters could have used more screen time. Amy Smart was great as a crazy lady. Lanei Chapman should have been in more movies. Did Gloria Allred pay for a role? A surprising number of famous people (Cuba Gooding Jr) at the time who fell off the map. The ending was terrible, even if Smash Mouth was popular. Great setups (I Love Lucy bus) Fav scene: the deadpan Barbie Museum was hilarious.

Occasionally funny, but it relies too much on age-old stereotypes (lesbian bikers, dishonest hookers, insane ex-girlfriends, etc.) that are not so much offensive as they are stale. The ending is forced, awkward, and incredibly dated.

It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World had famous comedians and actors. Rat Race had mostly unknowns and has-beens, save Rowan Atkinson. The difference is startling.

There is indeed some funny junk in Rat Race- mostly thanks to John Cleese, Dave Thomas, and Jon Lovitz - but the rest is forgettable.

Madcap comedy about a cross country race for a pot of cash. Huge and reasonably talented cast, some good laughs, but the ending falls well short of expectations. Smash Mouth? Really?

Cut this movie down to just the Jon Lovitz scenes, and you have an award-winner.

A cobbled together plotline, numerous cringe worthy moments and some suprisingly poor acting, this supposedly real-life cartoon falls flat on its face. I was expecting a humourous adventure in the theme of the Wacky Racers, especially with John Cleese and Rowan Atkinson involved, but have to say I was quite dissapointed. Not that it doesn't have its monents, it's just that they are infrequent and coupled with equally annoying and tired set-pieces.

Groping clumsily for madcap, it manages to hit fucking insufferable instead. And just when you think you can't get any more pissed off, Smashmouth appears.

It's incredibly crammed with jokes, but only a precious few hit home (most of those thanks to the inimitable Rowan Atkinson). Most of the others are just ... yelling or discomfort.
