My first Werner Hochbaum. I only recently learned about the German director with an on/off cult status. Poetic worker with an eye for the darker side of life. Razzia in St. Pauli (1932) belongs more in silent cinema, but the music plays a vital part in the execution of this little novella among the lower-class folks of the harbor. These rougher artistic films doesn't always appeal to me, but this one got exciting after a blurry start. I definitely want to see more from Hochbaum.
