Rebirth of Mothra

Mothra is the She-Ra to Godzilla's He-Man.

I'm ok with it being a kid's movie, and with the special effects and I enjoyed the monster designs, even the few Kaiju battles were fun. But the one thing I can never get over is how lame Mothra itself is, I mean there is no way in hell that a giant moth with ray beams and cocoon webbing spray can defeat Ghidora, or really any other monster, at best is ties them up for another monster to finish off. My point being is that Mothra is a sidekick character to me and always will be.

Lovely use of practical effects but action scenes drag. Environmental theme is present but incidental.

Kid movie tone is spot on for adult kaiju fans to still be on board, and anyway it quickly eschews plot for an hour of Mothra action, with mothra suffering the worst beat downs ever before levelling up into infinity and laying a beam smackdown of unprecdented power! watch it LOUD
