Wellmade little drama about a small and unsexy yet critical moment in American political history. It's sympathetic to Gore's side, no doubt about it, but it still gives a pretty clear picture of a flawed election to say the least.

Watching this movie made me feel ill. The cynical disregard for democracy displayed by the Republican staff was infuriating. It is amazing to look back on this and notice how docile America's reaction was to having our democracy so effectively undermined.

Watch this if you want to be infuriated. It's shameful that Al Gore was made out to be a sniveling baby for pushing the issue on Florida, because this was high robbery, and the Republican arrogance here is sickening. Roach does a good job of showing both sides of the story, but it's clear where his loyalties lie. The acting really lifts the film, and Laura Dern stands out in a cast full of great actors. She's terrifically horrifc. The Supreme Court should be ashamed of themselves.

Interesting stuff, and quite immersive with it. Every now and then you have to remind yourself that these things actually happened. Also makes you dispair a bit for the democratic (small 'd') process, and dispair for the Democratic (big 'D') party. Worth a look.

Well thought out and performed. However, you can hardly help your blood boiling at the level of cynical whinging the Republicans offered about Gore. How very dare he try and get votes counted properly?! Or when he has a recount going, why is he unhappy it is stopped arbitrarily by the Supreme court. Star prize for lunacy goes to Laura Dern (Katherine Harris) for capturing a swivel eyed lunatic out of her depth. Happy to hear the rioters work for Enron at the time - SUCK IT.

Dramatization of the 2000 US presidential elections. Well written, well played, detailed and more or less fair as far as I can tell. Considerably less dull than you'd expect of a political drama where you know the ending all along.

Fascinating, if depressing, account of the 2000 Florida election debacle. Laura Dern is fantastic as the vapid Katherine Harris.

People generally come away from this film feeling that the election was stolen. I came away from this film feeling disturbed that there was a constitutional crisis and party hacks got to decide it. There's a lot of chest-thumping in the film about "process." The truth is that there was no process. It was all ad-hoc, decided by whichever political party exerted more pressure rather than the rule of law. That's more disturbing to me than an allegedly stolen election.

Even watching this in the glow of Obama's historic victory, I still got angry. It's amazing that this country ever allowed the reins to be handed over to a man who clearly did not win. Anyone who watches this film from either side should be angered, and hopefully for the same reason--that our leaders should be chosen by the people, not the courts. All votes should count. All citizens should be heard. None should be omitted or discarded. And presidents should be wise leaders, not figureheads.

The main takeaway is what a complete clusterfork the whole affair was, & how the collapse of the electoral system was all due to the completely predictable event of having an unusually close election. None of the million little corruptions, lies & illegalities, any of which might have swayed the election results, would have entered the picture if the initial vote report had shown a margin over 0.5%. Now that we've seen the flaws in the system, has anything been done to fix them? Don't be silly.

Very good for a tv movie. Doesn't hit you over the head with how outrageous the stealing of the election was, but gives you enough facts to get angry on your own. Harris seems a bit over-the-top until you realize what the real thing is like.

Yo dawg, I heard you like recounts, so I put a recount in your recount so you can recount while you recount... Until, you know. Supreme court.

This movie drags just a little but overall it is a good retelling of the chaos that was the 2000 election. The performances are good in this film.

Movie tries to tell the story of both camps and does it pretty well without taking either ones side. All the star actors do a good job and even Jay Roach's directing doesn't suck.

"Though depressing as a reminder of how George W. Bush's presidency was won by the concerted efforts of numerous Republican interests more or less working independently of each other, it's also a screechy example of liberal Hollywood condescension." - Ed Gonzalez

An good film which, despite its inherent prejudices is a lot more even handed that I thought it would be. I though Wilkinson was tremendous, especially given that he isn't even as septic.

I suppose a film had to be made to remind us and future generations how ridiculous the 2000 election was. While more entertaining than any documentary could be on the subject, anyone who wasn't living under a rock in 2000 just doesn't want to be reminded of this embarrassing moment in modern American history.

In retrospect it didn't matter who won the election as both candidates had the same agenda's, as is the same with all elections. But an interesting film thats worth a watch.

This is incredibly frustrating to watch. I found myself getting emotionally involved and hopeful, even though I know what the result was, since it was over 10 years ago. The cast here are all great, and Laura Dern is really good, in particular.
