Red Joan

Pleasant, Sunday-matinee telling of an interesting story deserved a more fiery and substantial rendering than what it gets here; as it stands, Dench and Cookson do their best to fully flesh out Stanley as a character, with Dench (expectedly) able to convey more with a single glance than the entirety of the skimpy screenplay gives her. References to the gender dynamics of the time are not explored except in the most obvious of ways; a pity, considering how these played into the real life story.

Not really my type of movie But it was written and done well

Joan is such a weak, inconsistent character. She's pulled into the socialist crowd of 30's Cambridge mostly because she thinks the club president Leo is hot. she spits out one or two comments that deeply question Stalin, yet these are brushed aside and later she completely stops attempting to think beyond the surface of what she's told. Also, along the way, she pushes Leo out of her life repeatedly only to bring him back because he's hot and he's in her bedroom.

All the biopic devices and hackneyed dialogue...snore.

Çok fazla bir ileri bir geri anlatım kullanılmış. Judi Dench konuk kadın oyuncu olmuş. Fizik kurallarını alt üst eden kadın.

Fairly bland biopic, the cuts between the past and present are quite well done.
