Replicant

Kinda weird and awkward, Van Damme is just having a bad day. It's a bit weird when they're all like, yeah he got the mind of a child/ of someone with a intellectual disability... And then they proceed to beat him up every 2 seconds and have him hump a hooker.

Detective Jake Riley (Michael Rooker) is on the trail of serial killer Edward "The Torch" Garrotte (Jean-Claude Van Damme), who murders mothers and sets them ablaze after they're dead. Nearing retirement, Riley is removed from the case but is soon contacted by a government agency that has created a clone of Garrotte using a secret technology. The replicant (also Van Damme) teams with Riley to help track down the killer, but despite the novel approach, Garrotte will be hard to stop.

Odd movie here with Van Damme playing a dual role again (strange niche to have for an action actor). The script has strange decisions in it, but overall filmed fine and the action and acting aren't too bad.

While the movie does have an interesting take that goes against the standard buddy-cop standard, with Michael Rooker's characters being an complete ass that abuses van Damme's slow-witted clone character, the movie is barely watchable cause it's so dull

ringo lam, king of the car chase. manages to make a cramped parking garage sequence that's not even really a chase the highlight of the film

Not so good

Van Damme has been acting/fighting in so many bad movies lately that those good times must be in past by now. Replicant is also one the worst movies i have seen in 2001. There is one good thought still: only one who can match Van Damme is other Van Damme. Can't wait for Chuck Norris against Chuck Norris.

This was probably a cool idea at one point. And then all the entirely wrong people got attached to it.

One of the best movies from Van Damme. I like it 'cause it's not the usual hero movie even it is in action genre.

It takes one sentence for evil JCVD to believe in clones. The end credits still frame is perfect.

Double the Van Damage, JCVD flawlessly plays a retarded man and Tommy Wiseau
