Keanu announces hes gonna do the wrong thing so you know his wrong thing is gonna mess up the clones&be the crux of the-wait, nope it was just a hiccup. The clones are miffed, but hey man, they get it.Now its an evil corporation action thriller and WHERE DID THIS COME FROM?By time credits roll its a messy ball of Robocop lawnmower Man Stepford Wives, and even John Woo's Paycheck.ugly,dumb,jarring. It's like cobbling 3 acts from 3 separate movies and not even bothering to paint over the seams

I still maintain that Keanu is the best-worst actor of our generation. The premise was interesting enough but with poor (and often can confusing) narrative choices, truly awful dialogue and terrible acting, this one was a laugher.

Actors looking as confused by their decision as I looked watching it.

Spends way too much time building up to cloning and replicating his family. Plot holes galore without any tradeoff in the form of a more compelling story. Movies like this could lean into the horror aspect, the morality angle, or even standard sci-fi, but here it's played for drama. I don't even understand why they needed to waste a budget on the robot CG. Decent bad guy but terrible lackeys who can't even stop an upper-middle class family. Fav scene: robot Keanu going full Terminator.

Utterly baffling sci-fi effort sets up some intriguing existential ideas ala SOLARIS, but at a certain point does an out-of-left-field handbrake turn into a dull corporate conspiracy thriller, completely discarding any remaining interest. Even initially, the film can never build up a head of steam because it can’t get a grip on Reeves’ flimsy character, not helped by a miscast Reeves who goes for stoic and sensitive, when this particular character requires a Dr. Frankenstein level of crazy.

Humans. Hmm. Where goes the line? When you can call a mechanical being a human? This film does not give answer for such questions. It is more close to the film I, Robot. Though here we are on a romantic level. Not much grounded to the facts. A fairytale. And a rather bad fairytale. A waste of time. Oh, unless you fancy the looks of Alice Eve. But still a child's play. Nothing R rated.

Keanu shows here that he's not always this awesome presence on the screen, to put it light. "Yes... you can have some PANcakes," for example. You could shit on the script which isn't clever and full of bad dialogue, but it really is the acting that does it in. And that atrocity starts about 5 or 10 minutes in (after an admittedly decent beginning that is tense and a little upsetting) once Keanu gets home. Never recovers from there, but at the very least it flirts with some ideas.

Not sure why this one was trashed by critics. It is a solid sci-fi thriller/drama to me and gets quite emotional. Keanu Reeves stars.

Keanu Reeves waving at CGI projections while saying sciency-sounding alphabet soup is pretty funny; I was waiting for him to suit up and become Iron Man. Keanu survives a car crash because he's John Wick, then turns a horrible situation into utter batshit lunacy. I've never seen someone go from idealist protag to super-villain inside 20 minutes. It's adequate direction of a shit script, bad acting, and not even the big evil shadow corporation BS at the end can make me sympathize with this dope.

I'm uncertain whether Replicas suffers more from bad writing or bad direction. The 1st half of the film actually had a decent set-up; introducing the characters and the technology, and creating the situation in which Reeves' protagonist has to replicate his family. Sadly, after he does so, the film loses direction and quickly unravels. It briefly attempts an exploration of morality and selfhood, before opting for a car chase and greedy business bad guy (misplayed by Ortiz). A wasted opportunity.

It is lame and awkward but it gets interesting and funny towards the end. This should have been written as a sci-fi comedy instead.

Entertainment: 2.5/4 (poor Keanu got roped into this.) Family 0/1. Spirituality: 1/3. Society: 1.5/3.

They stubbornly stuck to the serious plot overloaded with flaws and plot holes. Alice Eve was a treat but found little to shine with. Keanu Reeves was just adequate. Good music, sound and production quality. OK SFX and CGI. The writing was not impressive. There is some action but little excitement. They missed dozens of opportunities to make it more fun and entertaining. The many obvious flaws overshadow the story and destroy the immersion making it barely worth watching.

There's probably four directions this could have gone to develop compelling drama but the film chooses to barrel ahead without pausing to consider any of them.
