In 1958, two teenagers take their pride and joy, a hopped-up Chevy, and start a cross-country journey to enter it in the National Championship drag races in California. It's pretty underwhelming. Not enough action or interpersonal drama. It's the kind of drive-in movie where nobody really pays attention what's happening onscreen. Waitress was crazy and pulling a gun on everyone. Cop was even crazier. Cool to see the '70s cars and clothes. Fav scenes: chases.

The last like 20 minutes salvage this thing. This film is clearly a victim of the original Macon County's success. The other one flawlessly tapped into the culture of the time and this one just reeks of IM STILL COOL KIDS. Nolte is okay. I get a lot of people probably got their first touch of titty during this but it don't make it good.
