Daringly different from the first. Lacks any lastingly haunting scene like the swim in the first film (the doubled swim in this is an interesting but less effective continuation), or the post-surgery face in the third, but it's a satisfying and smart little film. The training sequence is particularly horrifying, and really hammers home the cruelty of the human world in these films.

Fans no doubt disagree but the first hour of this is way better than the original in terms of excitement. The creature attacks almost immediately; the underwater fights are better bc you're not sure if the attackee will survive; & the plot takes a new turn. The creature also becomes far more sympathetic this time around - more Kong-like. Unfortunately the last half hour is an attempt to generate suspense that makes little sense w/ the creature pursuing a Fay Wray who'd drown if he succeeded.

If Black Lagoon was virtually King Kong in the amazon with a fish instead of a monkey, then Revenge all the more cashes in on that classic bestial love tragedy. It more or less replicates the former film beat for beat, with the added city locale. Some genuinely fun moments, but to say they're spread thin across an ocean of meh is putting it lightly. Fun to see Mr Eastwood in a very small, early role, albeit a needless one. His presence is much more vital in Tarantula.

A decent entry into the Creature series, but a palpable step down from the original. The rehashed King Kong plot works well for the Creature up to a point, namely the last 3rd of the film is so generic, that it possesses no interest or intrigue to the modern viewer. The build up is once again the highlight of the film - as is the case with most formulaic creature films of the era. John Agar is pretty cool and has a solid presence in front of the camera. Bonus points for Clint Eastwood's cameo.

Craptastic horror flick only really notable for an uncredited Clint Eastwood appearance.

Profoundly boring, the exact opposite of what a B-movie should be.

Takes away a lot of the mystique and atmosphere by transplanting the Gill Man to an aquarium. By scientifically poking and prodding him they take away the menace. Also he's been trained to "stop" so the body count is low even for the 50's. Production also neglected to take the same care as the first so it comes off much more as a z-grade movie for Universal. The third entry is much better. [MST3k shook off the dust rather quickly with this first entry for Sci-Fi Ch. making for another classic.]

Arnold's follow-up to his classic _Creature from the Black Lagoon_ isn't as imaginative but has lots of action (apart from a dull middle section), some surprisingly potent violence, and a scary pre-_Psycho_ motel shower scene.

A Revanche do Monstro estreava há 65 anos em New York. Overall - a poor sequel. More than anything it reminded me of King Kong. The beast is captured, then it gets lonely and falls in love with chick in bikini, escapes and causes TERROR!!!. Production values seems considerably lower than in original film. Creature music cue really got on my nerves.

While nowhere near as good as the first film, this is a fun sequel. There's no way that anyone can watch this and not root for the Gill Man, yanked out of his comfy lagoon and prodded with electrical poles by incompetent nitwits. Who wouldn't break out and run off with Lori Nelson? Clint Eastwood has his first screen role. He finds a rat in his pocket.
