Threadbare revenge plot, no real script to speak of, terrible acting, and a star who is a sucking black hole of anti-charisma. While the fights are excellently choreographed and edited (with plenty of tasty spinning kicks to the head), at no point is the hero ever in anything resembling peril. He destroys every enemy he faces with such stone-faced ease that it's impossible to get invested in the fight scenes, no matter how many people they show getting chopped up with machetes.

At once, it was extremely derivative and sometimes pretty confusing, which sounds kind of oxymoronic. The action was fairly solid, but most of the plot developments were borderline cringeworthy.

Severely lacking in the script department, content to coast by on a bundle of cliches and little else, barely even mustering the energy to attempt characters. The action is well filmed (excellently filmed if you love whip-zooms) and there are many decently lengthy takes that show the star's talent, though each battle is far too easy for our hero, presenting him with no real challenge and leaving the film a tensionless affair. Oh, and plenty of terrible CG blood, can't forget about that.

A few good moments, but this movie is filled with idiotic actors, pointless theatrics, tiresome dialog, and a dumb plot. The flashbacks were confusing at best and seemed contradictory. The premise provided a plausible setting for the action. Excellent music, sound, production quality, and choreography. Despite its many flaws, it was worth watching for the excellent Bruce Khan fighting scenes.

There are some really impressive momentsBruce Khan is impossibly quickbut the majority of the action is squandered behind shaking cameras and cheap digital blood. To boot, the concept is so daft that belief cannot be suspended, the story is completely dull, and the bosses are unimpressive.
