Revolt

Dirty and violent, though not much beyond the generic "Army Jesus with amnesia saves Africa from robo-aliens" plot. The male lead's abnormally blue eyes aren't likely enough to distract you from his deadpan delivery of bedpan lines, but the surprisingly above-average "disintegrating body" effects were beyond what I was expecting. That clapping sound you hear is the filmmaker high-fiving himself for coming up with the witty title.

Revolt is not an engaging film. It's not a bad film; in fact its visuals are well-rendered, the acting is adequate and its War of the Worlds on the dark continent vibe is cultivated well throughout. Unfortunately the characters are not intrinsically interesting, the action isn't memorable and I was left feeling rather blasé.

Although it lacks something to make a good movie it is a very enjoyable Alien invasion one.

okay movie

Nothing exceptional stands out in this film. It's basics, it tries things but nothing really pays off. It feels like a direct to VOD without much consideration. If you are bored and nothing better to do, you can enjoy it for what it is.

Has all the pieces to be good but stumbles on its scripting. There's a weird five minutes where a side character lectures us about the admirable spirit of the pitiful African child. That's where the movie really takes a dive and doesn't manage to recover.
