"Animals" remains Gervais' only stand-up show of real high quality. "Politics" has its moments, but is inconsistant, and feels forced and rushed. Stand-up simply does not allow Gervais to show the same peculiar emotional edge that taints "The Office" and "Extras" in such a positive way. As such his stand-up never reaches the heights of his TV work. A good watch, but not great.

Doesn't reach the level of Animals but some of it's still pretty funny.

Not quite as good as 'Animals', there are some funny bits but that doesn't stop it from feeling a bit forced and incohesive as a whole.

Most of it was rubbish for me, save the Schindler's List-Nietzche-Hitler and Humpty Dumpty bit. Although I really liked his animals show Gervais' humor fits far better in his tv shows. Both Extras and Office was extraordinary.

For some reason he's only funny when he's doing gay jokes. I always disliked him for no reason at all, but his Animals special was pretty good. This one just meh.

Not as good as Animals, but some bits are incredible, like the Humpty Dumpty bit. Gervais can't not be funny.

It's been a while since I last watched Gervais' original trilogy of stand-ups and it's refreshing to see I can still enjoy this one as much as I did in the past. Okay so the 'politics' theme is a very loose one and there are few standout moments, but it's consistently funny and - oddly - Gervais himself seems far more affable and at-ease on stage than he has in either of his DVDs since.

Really liked the 'humpty dumpty' and 'favourite leaflet' bits.

Stronger than Animals; the material here is stronger, and Gervais relies less on gimmicks and more on his own personality to carry the material, to solid effect.
