Ride Tenderfoot Ride (1940) shows what makes Gene Autry westerns so fun. No one is going to claim this is revolutionary film making, but it has a formula that was successful. Easy entertainment of songs, guest performers, light/cute comedy and a very basic good vs bad story tucked in there somewhere, though it's never the story that drives the movie forward. Apart from Autry himself he gets good help from his trusted sidekick Smiley Burnette and Mary Lee in making this as enjoyable as it was.
