Ride the Eagle

Originally written much more quiet and contemplative, they added the dog after Jake Johnson couldn't stop talking even when he was alone on set.

Ride the Eagle is a posthumous lesson to embrace life and unshackle yourself from past baggage. The film is well-meaning though a little lacklustre. Most of the comedy comes from the dialogue and Johnson's line delivery, but the film tone is distinctively melancholic. Simmons gets one of the best moments in the film. The exchanges between Carden & Johnson's characters are cute. Sarandon plays another mom dying of cancer. The ending may be upbeat, but the catharsis along the way falls short.

Honestly could not have been big budget. Not sure what the takeaway is here. Seems you can take multiple messages from it. Cute. Joyful. Special, but also nothing special.
