This is the first leading role I've seen of George Montgomery, and it's the 3rd adaptation of Zane Grey's Riders of the Purple Sage (1941) I've seen, having previously witnessed the 1925 (Tom Mix) and 1931 (George O'Brien) versions. I wasn't totally convinced. It was a overly eager one-dimensional cowboy Montgomery did. Works for programmers like this which only lasts an hour of passable entertainment. My favorite version is still Tom Mix's silent '25.
