Ridicule

Pas ridicule, pas du tout.

It feels like there's a good movie in there somewhere. It's well shot, the acting suits the film's period piece style and overarching story is reasonably interesting. Yet, despite all the pointed barbs strewn throughout the film, it almost always feels flat. Sure, I laughed a few times, but most of it just left me shrugging my shoulders thinking "sure that's amusing, but who cares." It lacks a driving energy, and I'd put at least some of the blame on the lead actor.

Loses much in translation. Stumbles along, gaining momentum and losing it, before an incredibly withered climax.
