Riverdance: The Animated Adventure

Trying to celebrate one's local traditions is always touchy as it can get tacky easily. The CGI can be acceptable for a smaller studio, but still not impressive. The over reliance on funny animal shenanigans was a bit insufferable however, maybe only toddlers and young children would find it funny

If there’s one thing I can say with certainty that parenthood and the pandemic has taught me, it’s that not all children’s animation can be Pixar quality and that is fine. This, on the other hand, is the second worst children’s movie I have ever seen.

What a weird fetish movie. The script felt unfinished. Like they just decided to produce the first semi comprehensive draft of a spitball meeting about Irish traditions and folklore.

True story. We went on a school trip to London in the mid-90s and one of the obligatory activities was to see the big production of Riverdance the theater musical. I left during intermission. I couldn't stand it anymore! And I wish I had abandoned this halfway through too, but with the kids watching I stuck it through to the end. I have seen worse animated movies, that's all the positive I have to say about it.
