Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain

An excellent documentary with style and finesse. I did not expect it to become so crushingly sad.

In my experience, when a brilliant, successful man, with a sense of the desperate nature of much of individual and collective experience, especially in the age of consumerism, hangs himself, despite having a powerful ability to engage intelligently and affectingly with many people, and despite leaving behind a family, and without leaving a note, it's very difficult to come to terms with and to know what to say about it. The use of an artificial reconstruction of Bourdain’s voice is questionable.

I've already accepted the absence of prudence and sincerity in most American documentaries but nevertheless this movie (particularly in the last 5 minutes) these problems are on a "hard-to-stomach" level. It is unbearable that, this movie also is a part of consumerism which is one of the triggers of Bourdain's depression. What was the last scene on the murals and that stupid " life goes on" moral lecture??

a better tagline would be "the journey destroys you". with little prior knowledge about him and his work, my expectations was higher for some reason. interviews are repetitive after a point and it gets pretty depressing towards the end.

I found the style irritating at first but it grew on me. Some really nice cuts in there. Not being American or interested in cooking TV I didn't know who he was but his story relates to people in my life and so is both moving and valuable.

Filmin sonunda, Asia Argento aşkı ve intihar. İçimde 1 sızı var. Göğsümde büyür. Koskoca 1 şehirde. Yalnızım.

For the most part, I think this is a fairly solid documentary that dodges a lot of the pitfalls of this kind of bios. We don't get much on Bourdain's life before his rise to fame, which is sensible since the film is not about him being a chef. It's about him as a public figure. It details how he rose to fame and started his TV show, and does a very good job of drawing a picture of who he was in the process.

I've never watched one of his TV shows and never read any of his writing but I was thoroughly engrossed in this documentary about Anthony Bourdain.

Well made. Probably only of use if you have enjoyed his show(s) for years.
