Rob the Mob

Sharp little film with an elegiac note about the passing of the Mafia and great cameos from Griffin Dunne, Andy Garcia and Burt Young.

Pretty by the numbers and doesn't have a great scene to elevate it from mediocrity. I also thought I was watching that Gandolfini movie that came out in 2014 so I was confused for like 30 minutes trying to figure out where the hell Tom Hardy was. Speaking of Gandolfini -- nice to see a slew of Sopranos cast members still riding the wave and playing dirty guidos. Not worth seeing but not a bad movie to have on if you're like vacuuming your house or something

Decent movie, But I couldn't stand the leading couple

Michael Pitt makes a good criminal & Nina Arianda was good as his girl getaway driver. The characters were surprisingly stupid in real life. I liked all the actors playing mobsters, especially Andy Garcia. Ray Romano was also good as the reporter. The pacing was good as was most of the production quality & music. It was moderately entertaining until the predictable & rather underwhelming ending.

It's decent, but why is the ending so muddled?

Rob the Mob is an inconsistent film with two flawed stories stitched together. One is the tale of two thieves who have all the fun moments in the film. At times you root for them, at times question how their stupidity hasn't already got them killed. The second story is that of the mob, in which they bumble about doing next to nothing. Garcia is absolutely gripping, even if he was paired with a middling script. Arianda has charm, Pitt so much less so. A mediocre film, with good moments.
