Robert the Bruce

Ah, the fabled unofficial Braveheart sequel. Well, it fails in that capacity. That being said, it's not terrible, just kind of boring. There are elements here that are good, the beginning and ending especially work rather well, but they spend a lot of time building up this relationship with a family, which, while great as a concept, just stretches out for too long imo, and significantly limits the character. Outlaw King is a better Robert Bruce story.

There were some moments where I thought this movie could have been good but it was eclipsed by so many boring moments that made me want to stop the movie. I never cared about Robert the Bruce. He was a coward at the beginning of the movie and as the movie develops the audience is supposed to see him go through this change where the family inspires him to not give up. That happens but it wasn't convincing. If you are obsessed with Scottish history, then go for it. Anyone else, steer clear.
