I enjoyed Rosaline for its silliness and irreverence though the film pushes it a bit too far with its resolution. Dever & Teale have great RomCom energy and play well off each other. Stevenson & Hiraga were bad side characters. Whitford & Driver were under-used. The girl-pop soundtrack and modern vernacular are fun, and the film constantly has a joke in play. The ending however is disappointing; resulting in a film of jokes but without a punchline.

I do beg to differ that the film lacked a punchline. Watch the mid credit scene. It addresses a common romance trophy I’ve always wondered about. Other than that, it’s a fun little romp. Don’t expect any fidelity to period costumes, language, literature, etc. Just allow yourself to be casually entertained.

Wretched. Didn't even bother watching the second half.

“Rosaline” is an enjoyable and commendable film, but it falls short of being a masterpiece. It has its high points, including Kaitlyn Dever's performance and the witty script, but it doesn't do enough to differentiate itself from the original material. Nonetheless, it’s a fun and accessible way to introduce younger audiences to Shakespeare's work.

Decent movie, enjoyed watching it with the wife.
