The 2nd of 8 movies pairing Jeanette MacDonald & Nelson Eddy. Their tone is very operatic and that can be a bit too soar for my ears. But they are pure professionals at the trade! And the dramatic opera scene at the climax did touch a nerve. Funniest moment was when MacDonald tried to make a saloon girl performance. Just watch her having to re-adjust her style significantly! A lot of the movie happens out in nature where MacDonald is trying to locate her criminal brother.... James Stewart!

A well-rounded, well-made film that blends stellar vocals with good acting.

Decent if predictable story. Opera caused me to lose interest at times (but still in admiration of Jeanette MacDonald's voice). James Stewart as the brother! Confusing blend of native tribes. Fav scene: introducing the Mounties.

Really liked this oldtime Nelson Eddy-Jeanette MacDonald pairing....with several great songs...

I basically hate this film. MacDonald and Eddy have powerful singing voices, but they are used in the dullest, least interesting way imaginable. They saw away at slow, lumbering songs hitting and holding high notes interminably long ... it's essentially a form of musical torture. I could live with this if it were surrounded by a sparkling romantic comedy, but the singing is 80% of the movie.
