What could have been a very funny movie was instead hindered by its zealous director and anal-retentive producers.

Not funny, like a bite in the arm with teeth as chains.

I don't think Ronnie Dobbs was worthy of a whole movie - not with this script, anyway. It had some good ideas buried in there, about reality TV and the nature of fame and everything, but structurally, the film's a mess and I honestly tuned out after an hour. It is occasionally funny, and David Cross and Bob Odenkirk are both great in it. There's a whole lot of cameos, both big and small, too, which makes it more fun. But yeah, not a great movie overall.

Has some very inspired bits, but obviously does not live up to the brilliance of Mr. Show. At the same time, almost nothing does, so this cannot be a surprising revelation. I'd love to see a Bob and David-approved cut, if such a thing exists.

Worth a watch for the great cameos from Mr. Show and Kids in the Hall alums, and for a majestic song and dance by Jack Black

If memory serves there's about one funny line in this entire movie. I love Mr Show and this ranks as one of the most disappointing movies I've ever seen.

considering it was the Mr. Show movie, it should have been much better... but it was still quite funny.

A mess, but perfect for those wanting one last gasp of Mr. Show.

As much as I love a lot of the people involved the film as a whole just doesn't work as a whole. Randomly it will cut into segments that have very little to do with the actual plot and those (along with some funny lines/cameos) are the best parts. I hear that Cross and Odenkirk got booted from the editing of this movie and have disowned it since it got butchered by Miller and New Line Cinema (and I don't blame them). Would only suggest to avid fans of Mr. Show and/or David Cross.

Its cameos and other absurd distractions are more interesting and compelling than its plot or characters. Cross and Odenkirk have played the old "this film was stolen from us" card but the material is so basically lacking I can't imagine their ideal version of the film being much better.

The unfortunate part about this movie is that it has some really really really funny moments, but studio fuckery transformed it into some cookie cutter summer comedy.

Plays out as Mr. Show: The Movie, mostly because that's exactly what it is. And with that said, it's a major disappointment. The cameo list is impressive and a lot of the one-note jokes are zingers -- "Scott Thompson and the Gay Conspiracy" especially. The problem is that so much of the show was brilliant sketch comedy, and most of this...is not. If you like Mr. Show, you'll probably have a good time with the movie, but the uninitiated might want to hit up the re-runs instead.

Mr. Show is my favorite television series, but I'm sad to say that this movie just doesn't work.

Butchered in the editing room and then disowned by Mr. Show and friends thereafter. Bordering on purely unfunny.

It's a Mr. Show sensibility shoe-horned into a Saturday Night Live kind of movie. It just doesn't work. It's so watered down and Hollywood. It's simply not that funny. It has moments, but very few.

Unfunny throughout and inferior in every way to the Mr. Show comedy sketch it is based upon. Two Times One Minus One (a fictional music group from Mr. Show) makes a noteworthy appearance, but it does not save the film.

This is the movie Joe Dirt wishes it could have been. That being said, I guess white trash humor can only take you so far, because it's still not good, even with all the hilarious people involved.
