For a movie meant for children, it spends an exorbitant amount of time on its plot. And you'd expect the plot to be about a kid and his puppy, but it's actually about his effeminate dad's descent into corporate Hell with Cliff from Cheers as the devil. I wanted terrible CGI of humans being attacked by animals. I got 90 minutes of exposition and a rip-off of Thunderstruck. This is the English Patient of wrestling dog movies.

Watched this like 4-6 months ago and apparently thought so little of it that I didn't even log it here. Just insanely bad, possessing not even basic knowledge of its own subject matter.

The climax involves two grown men trying to beat up a child and a small dog in a wrestling match people paid to watch.

It feels like this entire movie was built around the premise of calling it "Russellmania" only for them to get legal advice that this was too similar to "Wrestlemania" to get away with it. But they still had a movie about a wrestling dog on their hands and not even a catchy title. If you happen to be a fan of wrestling, talking monkeys and dog movies (which I am) then you might enjoy this. Otherwise, why would you fucking watch this anyway?

Russell Madness is yet another awful Air Bud movie, although this one stars a Jack Russell Terrier named "Russell." It's a boring and simplistic movie whose story seemed better fit for boxing, not professional wrestling, and whose dialogue will make anyone over the age of eight cringe nonstop for its entirety. The only joy that can be had is, if you are a professional wrestling fan, watching John Hennigan get beat up by a dog a couple of times. The rest of the Russell Madness is awful.

What a cheesy combination! Combining the Air Bud talking dog franchise and pro-wrestling! When that combination doesn't work, add a talking money to save this cramp-digested idea. Then you have Cliff from Cheers as a combination of Vince McMahon and Michael "P.S." Hayes, which was sort of cool. This film is naturally for the really young crowd and I'm sure it'll please them. For the older crowd this just seems like a desperate attempt of coming up with.... something.

Pretty much as good as you'd expect a kids movie in which a talking live-action dog is "trained" by a talking live-action monkey to "wrestle" against humans to be.

My "friend" Joe Ryder hyped this movie up so much, that I could only be disappointed. But I was still not prepared how much ass the movie actually sucked in the end.
