80s Danny DeVito is like a whole new different creature waiting to evolve.

Not only is the movie bad, it also aged extremely badly.

A cool dark comedy that has just enough 80s pizazz to really make an impression on me. It's not laugh out loud hysterical, but it definitely works as entertainment, even working some suspense into the mix. DeVito is perfect for the role and back in the day, Judge Reinhold was just really cool.

Nej, det er ikke en god film - men DeVito og Midler har deres momenter, hvor de kan være sindssyge som igen andre.(22 22)

Blackly comic farce is unlike anything else in ZAZ's filmography. The humour is character and situation based (i.e not reliant on pop cultural parody) which surprisingly suits them, and the plot has enough complications to keep the film engaging despite its broadness. The vileness of the characters' behaviour provides real laughs, and Devito shines as a complete scumbag who refuses to pay the ransom to his wife's kidnappers, who are more sympathetic than Midler, a royal pain in the ass.

One of the breakout films of the 80s. Restarted Bette's career, and lead to a string of fun movies.

Strident comedy. DeVito and Midler are wasted.

A comedy that is often forget, but always funny. A movie like this would probably be amongst the ten best comedies of some other decades, but barely gets mentioned in the best thirty of the 1980s.

Very underrated, Ruthless People is the exact result of a crime drama filled with gags from the ZAZ team: a black comedy that provides maybe shy laughs, but lots of pleasant thrills and smart surprises.

The only funny bits in this movie were the vile over-the-top 80s set design, and Bill Pullman's hair.

The entire cast has a lot of fun with this movie. Danny DeVito really stands out playing this type of character. A very funny script, I highly recommend this comedy.

Another underrated '80s comedy that excels in almost all areas yet has never seemed to get the recognition it deserves. A quick look at the talent behind the camera suggests something good but it's the spot-on performances by the cast that really brings the (surprisingly well-written) script to life. DeVito in particular plays the crafty bastard role with relish.

Greatly exceeded my expectations; the performances are artfully heightened and the story moves at a good pace. DeVito is great here but Midler's physical comedy really impressed me.

Oh 1980s, you so crazy. The movie's main fault is that it doesn't lean in to the silliness or randomness enough. The cast is having more fun than their audience.
