Very good action thriller and definitely one of the better police movies ever made. High production value, plenty of action, excellent cinematography, sense of urgency & intensity; basically everything you want in a Hollywood action flick. Even better is that they don't waste any time with hackneyed love plots, and instead fill that time with more action.

Solid, well-made, entertaining cop movie with a great cast and decent action. Nothing groundbreaking, but hardly deserving of all the negative reviews here.

The first fifteen minutes of this film are outstanding. The next 30 aren't bad either, alternating between SWAT training I'd never even thought about before and cop movie cliches we can all see coming. But there's a horrible silence in the middle of this film while you wait for there to be a bad guy, and for him to matter. And yeah, the way the film turns into an escort mission is disappointing. Notably, more SWAT guys die in this movie than have ever died in real life.

I hated this movie. Not just because of the crapy acting, plot, and cheesy ending, but because of the sheer hipocrasy. They have this build up of the female charecter as a tought chick who is as tought as any guy and wants nothing more than to kick some ass. And what does she do in the movie?!? Nothing! She stays behind, covers their back, etc, im not even sure if she fired a shot!

The first 45mins or so, in the training "boot camp" (for lack of a better word) are exhilarating, intelligent and original. Then the movie turns its brain off and lands a private jet on a city bridge. Stupid stupid stupid, not to mention predictable. What a waste, the opening act is so strong and it's all for nothing.

Harmless, undistinguished fluff is better at the start as Jackson and Farrell do their version of hunting for "Untouchables", but soon drifts off into sleepiness as no character conflict is ever established and, while there is copious action, there are pretty much no memorable adrenalin pumped set pieces (the competent but uninspired airplane chase is about as good as it gets). Seems too preoccupied with starting a franchise to remember to posit a stand-alone story.

Hondo Harrelson (Samuel L. Jackson) recruits Jim Street (Colin Farrell) to join an elite unit of the Los Angeles Police Department. Together they seek out more members, including tough Deke Kay (LL Cool J) and single mom Chris Sanchez (Michelle Rodriguez). The team's first big assignment is to escort crime boss Alex Montel (Olivier Martinez) to prison. It seems routine, but when Montel offers a huge reward to anyone who can break him free, criminals of various stripes step up for the prize.

A rudimentary Hollywood blockbuster which, like many, is unbelievably lacking in any plot or character. It passes the time though, especially for some of the action scenes. I also now think Michelle Rodriguez is an extremely attractive but perfect action heroine, and wonder why she's not getting any better roles.

Jeremy Renner makes a compelling villain because as an actor he's compelling but despite the film's want to be subtler in its action scenes and make you care about the characters you still just want it to kick in the door and go in with guns blazing. It doesn't.

Surprisingly OK, until the end goes way beyond all plausibility and the side plots inexplicably join the main one. The soundtrack - seemingly from the ipod of a late-'90's machismo idiot - didn't help matters. Simply, good moments are always overshadowed by bad ones, like the Wiltern doubling for 7th and Hope. Even the signs weren't covered. And the guy's name was Street. Seriously.

It's an action film with a new flavor. Bad attitudes are in full force, but the combat scenes are a little lacking. As the movie tries to wrap, the action becomes palpably synthetic. Since action movies are all about action, this fucks up the whole thing. It doesn't destroy the experience though, and it's pretty entertaining overall.

S.W.A.T. was able to pull together a great cast for a movie that had some popcorn fun but wasn't really worth the time in the end. Some of the action was fun and there was a brief caper involved in this movie. It's not something that I would want to watch again because there isn't really any personality to this movie. The characters are good people but they don't have anything that makes their characters interesting. Jeremy Renner's character was the most interesting but his character was brief.

S.W.A.T is your typical directionless, paint by numbers action film. I couldn't wait for this to end. Plot wise it's completely uninteresting and forgettable. And the the action is as equally boring. If this film just stared LL. Cool J then there would be no complaints and everybody could just forget about it. But when the likes of Samuel L. Jackson & Colin Farrell are involved it's unbelievable how awful this film is. I can only assume it was an easy pay cheque for the pair.
