It would be pretty hard to go wrong with the combination of talent here. Bogart, Holden, and Hepburn are a truly fantastic lineup. Billy Wilder's direction is conservative, but well-versed and clearly defined. All of his movies are just so pleasant to sit through, and this is no exception. Some of the gags become a little too silly, but it's never any major distraction.

Very flimsy plot but a good comedy. Distracting age difference. Hepburn's character motivations did not make sense. Her dress had yards of skirt. I'm not sure what the message of the movie is, but it makes a nice romance. Fav scene: yes, we have no bananas boat ride.

A romantic comedy that actually succeeds at both, thanks to the three magnificent leads and Wilder's excellent writing and direction.

Lovely, warm and cute tale about this poor british girl who used to stalk her loved one -- a guy that married three times -- from a tree, went to Paris, came back as a cook and with credentials to conquer him -- she looks older and prettier --, but now seems confused when the guy's big brother -- a business man with a record of sentimental failures -- falls for her -- and she for him. Not great, but certainly a standard romance for other star-driven films that appeared in the following decades.

Like most of the romantic films made in 50's Hollywood it is almost disturbingly dated. I mean stuff like coupling 25-years-old Hepburn and 55-years-old Bogart, woman using her wits (looks, to be accurate) for sole reason of getting a rich man to marry her, and so on. Wilder is one of the best directors of that era, and with the help from always radiant stars of this film he makes Sabrina not only bearable, but even likable chick-flick.

Like all Billy Wilder films, it is easy to sit through...however this isn't one of his better films. It is excellent but just not up to par with some of his other movies. Bogie seemed too old for me in this one, I never really believed that him and William Holden could be brothers. Still enjoyed it though.

Billy Wilder is king. However... for all its flaws, it's more believable that Ford falls for Sabrina in the 1995 film than that Bogart does here. That's both a performance and a writing thing. Bogart's Linus is more explicitly manipulative, and while it's apparent that he reaches the point of sympathy and guilt, "love" is not a word that comes to mind so much as it is a concept thrust upon the viewer in the last moments of the film. Otherwise, though? Vastly superior to the remake in every way.

When you got Wilder directing a comedy with Hepborn as the young sweetheart, Bogart as the seemingly cold executive guy and Holden as the careless playboy, you just know you can't fail. And indeed they all do great here, Wilder's touch is clearly felt in the humor and atmosphere and the supporting cast add some delightful moments too. definitely one of the best of its kind.

The first of the "Hepburn's love interest is old enough to be her grandfather" type of films that acknowledges the age difference. The plastic hammock with the butt cut out was definitely used for some kink thing.

lovely, lovely, lovely. i love audrey, i love humphrey, i love this film. and, of course, with billy wilder at the helm it was impossible for me not to. such a sweet, delicate story about young love and growing up, told in true old-hollywood fashion. it's an underrated film, to be sure, but i think it's right up there with both bogart and hepburn's greatest works, in terms of quality.

Hepburn is of course luminous...and captivating...and, well, Audrey Hepburn. It might've been a better movie had they been able to go with their first casting choice of Cary Grant; Bogart's portrayal is I suspect a bit too realistic for the milieu. Like Jack Lemmon in The Odd Couple, taking a melancholic turn tends to put a damper on the proceedings.

Two of my favourite old-school actors, Bogart and Hepburn, put on traditional performances in this movie. The idea behind it is great, although towards the end, things happen with little or no preparation or reason. While you see it coming a long way off, you may be disappointed in the way it falls together. Still, good stuff

Audrey Hepburn is a pretty cool cat in real life, quite a strong, classy & independent woman - especially by the standards of Hollywood. But it rarely translates in film; even her "feminist" portrayals are usually childish, daft and obnoxiously oversimplified. This film is no exception. It's just a tedious Cinderella story. The remake has ten times the soul & charisma, whereas I honestly think this 54 version would only appeal to those who enjoyed the original Disney princesses.

Not as powerful the second time around after nearly 20 years. These romance movies are the main inspiration behind Turkish Yesilçam tradition. Wilder's cinematic magic is still around in the cathartic moments, perhaps Hepburn purring and buzzing helps a bit too. In all its sinister ways something still feels too sterile.

I like this film. It rarely gets credit for just how funny it is, but Wilder was an excellent comic director, and "Sabrina" is often at its best when it is making jokes. Hepburn is sensational.

It's a perfectly watchable film, but it's not really funny, and I found it very hard to root for either of the romantic entanglements in the love triangle.

I'm not sure what the deal is with Audrey Hepburn being paired off with these much older men in all these movies, but whatever... i'm probably overthinking it but i like the way this movie seems to be constantly commenting on it's own cliche romantic tropes (in a way that makes modern PoMo "self-aware" romantic comedies utterly redundant) but then again it almost might just be sort of cheesy a lot of the time. Also the commentary on classism feels very dated.

I will always love Audrey Hepburn, I will always love Humphrey Bogart. But let me be honest, as a couple they don't quite work, mainly cause Bogart is stiff & awkward right to the end. Pairing her with William Holden, her original idol, is more believable, & in real life, he wanted to marry her at the time. But never mind that: enjoy the comedy, the romance, the Cinderella allegory. Audrey at her most radiant.

It seems impossible that Wilder, Hepburn, and Bogart could make a bad film, and indeed they haven't here. Given that talent involved though, I did find myself a tad disappointed even though I liked the film a lot. It's a very good movie, but I couldn't help but think there might have been something missing--maybe leaning more into the comedy might have elevated it, or more development of the Linus relationship. A minor wilder, but might have been upper tier for some lesser directors.

One of my all time favourites. Bogart and Hepburn in the same movie! Not to mention William Holden. Has there ever been another movie to star the previous 3 years best actor or actress Oscar winners? Bogart is well suited to his role and plays it very subtly (and is UNDER-RATED!), and Hepburn is to die for (as always!)
