A focused and accomplished work - at times bombastic (packed full of Christian imagery and symbolism) yet deeply felt. Thankfully, Carlos Orellana's blind-lover-of-the-heart anchors the melodrama when it goes to extremes.

Mexico's first all-taker! The year is 1932 and they remake the story of Santa. A girl disgraced and finding no other choice then to become a prostitute. And it's a well acted tragic story. Though it's not like one is pouring the emotions because of it. But technically it's a well structured early sound attempt. A credit to the Mexican cinema for pulling it off so well!
