Saratoga

Harlow's final movie is just average. She always works pretty well with Gable, but it's at times a little hard to follow what the actual details of the plan are (though the broad strokes stay clear.) Madison is a very mediocre character. Might have been more satisfying if they'd made him a little villainous or even a bit pompous or something, but he's just a rich (but seemingly perfectly normal) guy.

Average star vehicle from MGM. Clark Gable and Jean Harlow always had good chemistry together and they together is the carrying point in Saratoga which isn't the kind of movie which would have been a remembered classic had it not been for being Jean Harlow's final appearance before she died. It's a solid one, but not among the amazing films of the era. But since it is Harlow's final one, it becomes essential viewing.
