Sator

For a movie mostly made by one guy, it's pretty good. It's got some powerful scenes, a creepy mood and the lore we are given is interesting. The scenes in the forest and inside the cabin with the shadow and light are very spooky. Unfortunately it moves way too slow, so that even if I really love creeping, subtle horror, the movie is tedious to watch.

Well made for a DIY-project, there are a couple of impressive scenes that are genuinely scary. Great use of sound and shadows. However, the lack of dialogue and sparse storytelling result in a rather tedious experience.

The director's grandmother has schizophrenia and dementia, so he gets an actor to pretend he's her grandson and films it... The exploitative context aside, it's just not a very good film. It's too damn dark and the stupid fractured narrative structure means that whatever tension is supposed to be invoked is completely dispelled by the viewer trying to figure out who everybody is and what the hell they are doing. Fractured narratives aren't a magic spell to morph dross into arthouse!

Extremely effective mood serving a clearly personal but just a little too obscure plot. Maybe. This one may deserve a rewatch which could send it either way up or way down.

An interesting premise but waaaay too slow. I actually dozed off a few times before the movie started to move faster (last ~20 min)

Semi inventive and pretty to look at, but an absolute snooze to sit through. Do something! No, not like that!
