This is the time where they need to stop the series. It has become a ridiculous, boring, dry, old, washed-up and rehashed cash-in franchise with little being interested in it. This so-called film is yet another poor gorefest, and an example of how Hollywood doesn't give a crap how bad there movies are. Seriously, stop the series. It's getting to the point where everybody in the theater dies from shock, and not the shock that the film tries to cram into everybody's mouths.

Brings together some of the worst actors and instead of focusing on them reaching into things that hurt and dying horribly we have to endure Tobin Bell waxing poetic about his nonsense to Hoffman and some idiot FBI agent explaining outloud what we have all know like 8 movies ago. It takes real guts though to become a director with the last name Hackl and well sure enough...

This movie is more of the same from the previous four, but they have lost all the newness of the idea by the fifth time around. It has some interesting plot twists and, had you not seen any of the previous ones, you might be completely be lost. The movie is actually hard to understand and since it's so shallow a horror movie that is an amazing and terrible thing.

heres a few things that made this film so confusing: The bad guy and good guy look so much alike it was hard to tell them apart. The subtle transistions from flashback to present, I couldnt tell what time we were in most the time. The emense use of facts you need to know from the first 4 movies that I can't recall. Then the side story is 5 people in a jigsaw game. dumbest people ever. Theres only 3 safe holes and 4 of us, 1 must die. YOU CAN FIT MORE THAN ONE PERSON IN THE DAMN SAFE HOLE IDIOTS!

This is so much more a sequel than an actual film. It seems to stretch its entire length trying to tie all the films together instead of just giving the audience what it came for: Traps.

Just-passable slasher is really more of a stock-standard NCIS episode with some gory gross-out moments thrown in sporadically; this results in an almost complete lack of tension as the story plays out, not helped by low-rent performances from all involved; stalwart Bell does his best, but screams for better material. The gross-out moments when they come are effectively queasy and unsettling; just would have been better to see them plugged into a more exciting (and even coherent) narrative.

I must have a screw loose to think that these continuing entries in the redundant "Saw" canon aren't just awful - but the series keeps on chugging like a gory C.S.I. series. I have to give the filmmakers props for tying all these movies together, even though they're nearly impossible to follow. Just when you think Jigsaw's got one apprentice, wait he has two. Yeah it's very dumb, but the plot intrigued me more this time. Anymore unseen tie-ins to previous entries, however, and I'll give up.

If "Saw IV" was scraping the bottom of the barrel, this is digging a tunnel beneath the barrel. "Saw V" treats you like you're an idiot, and I'm not giving it the satisfaction of a full review. Hoffman and Strahm do look identical though, and there is something deeply funny about a cat and mouse game where it's almost impossible to tell which one's which. Game over.

So dull. Only better than Saw IV in that I could actually follow the plot this time, but really, they need to stop trying to make a plot here because I cannot imagine a single soul on earth caring at all what goes on with these detectives. You can barely tell them apart, and I don't really know why you'd want to. The traps are pretty boring but the way they are presented is at least ok, unfortunately the only interesting character is killed off very early. Incredibly dull, incredibly bad.

Saw V looses ground compared with part IV and I guess it's getting straight to the ground if they don't put an end to that series. But In my opinion not everything is bad in Saw V. Some nice traps and a very cool final scene ( don't want to spoil something ) But overall it's disapointing to see what they did to the clever idea of the first ( and of course best ) Saw.

Isn't any worse than the previous installments, though the detective talking to himself 'explaining' what he was deducing so all the morons in the theater could understand what was going on...that was a little excessive. But,I guess you get what you pay for...and if you torrented the movie, then you payed for nothing.

Dear casting director of Saw V: your pro- and antagonist look exactly alike. It was confusing, especially when only mildly interested in the filler between people getting maymed by stuff. Admit it, you put a bandage on one's neck, just so you could keep them apart yourself. Now imagine asian audiences, those guys must've thought they were drunk.

Besides the weakest story in the series, this is also the worst technically speaking. And you know what? Finally they succeeded, ruined the movie. It did not work the attempt to reconstruct the story for the fifth time. And unfortunately, it seems, that will not stop here.

This one wasn't quite as bad as I anticipated, but it certainly wasn't anything new. I certainly didn't care one bit about any of the characters. Some of the traps were interesting, but they're really just variations on previous ones. The acting was pretty awful all around. I think Julie Benz tried her hardest, but there's only so much you can do with bad dialogue. I can already say there have been too many sequels, which is unfortunate considering there are still two more for me to watch.

Saw V is a bad movie and even if you liked the earlier movies in the franchise, it's hard to see anyone getting terribly excited about it. The traps aren't creative, the story is convoluted and confusing, the acting is nothing impressive, there's no actual horror, and there's very little reason to even watch it, save for the completionists out there who have already seen 1-4. Saw V is an obligation, made to make money and nothing more.

The endless attempts at adding stuff to the lore and making flashbacks just makes it annoying and dubious. One is distracted by their attempt at finding the plot holes or making sense of the timeline. The group could have been a more interesting point of focus, even if at first they came off as sounding too fake. The end was funny though

Absolutely stinking of the feeling that this series is running out of steam. The characters are stupid and idiotically interact with their traps, which have concocted from the mind of a demented eleven year old. At the end of all the gorror (without the 'orror) the "twist" is the same as the one from the last two movies. Don't fall for this trap!

They sure blew their load too early with Jigsaw dying didn't they? They obviously should've known how popular these would get and to have Jigsaw with all the faults in these movies was at least somewhat good for a horror villain replaced with someone with the charisma of a wet noodle. Obviously that's stupid enough but then they're just like HE WAS IN THE BACK THE WHOLE TIME. Like a photoshop.

Acceptable entry into the series, but this had way too many flashbacks as it did get a little annoying and the tag line wasn't really accurate. "You aren't going to believe how this ends." Sorry this was too predictable. Would have like to see more of the groups, the traps and why they needed to be rehabilitated, I mean isn't that why we watch the Saw series. Still, this is a decent watch.

Yeah, I took a break from going through these again. I watched the first 4 front to back, and I already forgot what happened in this and how it ties into this. It's pretty laughable how many times the main antagonist has changed, and just how convoluted this saga is. I understand we wanna see the traps, and I know these movies come with the tag "torture porn" attached to them, but I still don't see why you just can't keep the plot simple. Jesus Christ, this isn't Citizen Kane.

It gets consideraly bad as plot thickens and series seems trapped (lol) in its formula of rehashing past plots to make sequels 'plausible'. Hoffman was recruited for Jigsaw 'rehabilitation program' way back then, when killed his sister's killer in Kramer's fashion. Now he covers tracks - by framing Strahm. Convoluted and cheap TV horror, as formula goes on - tons of backstory, now with Hoffman's 'training' and new group dealing with a deadly trap that eventually will make sense in a sequel

Half the movie is flashbacks to the first 4 because they assume the audience a) didn't watch Saw I-IV (why start at 5 then?) or b) are complete idiots with the memory span of a goldfish. The other half is a bunch of boring non-people doing boring things with some blood and guts thrown in for the torture porn fetishists to jerk off to. It tries to tie up the plots of the last 4 movies, but let's face it, they didn't really have plots that were interesting enough to need resolved.

It was like someone dared the writer to try and retcon as much of the previous movies as humanly possible. Some guy hunts down his doppelganger while five people who apparently have nothing to do with nothing try to escape the lamest traps yet. THIS IS GOOD CINEMA, PEOPLE. If they were going to take it this far they should have just made it a weekly Showtime series instead.

Wow. I never thought I would ever get this much story out of a Saw film. While most have given up at this point, Saw 5, not being big on gore, makes up for it by going after all the last bits of unexplained stuff and finishing off the story of Hoffman in a great way. There are still a couple of unanswered questions, but we got alot of them answered here. The series is showing its age now, and I wonder if they will be able to make the next one worthwhile. Until then, Saw V will do just fine.

The Saw films have two hinges: The twists and the traps. If a Saw film fails in both areas, then it just isn't worth watching. Saw V fails in both areas. It also forwards the overarching franchise plot by less than a smidgen and (if memory serves me right) contains boring, forgettable flashbacks.
