Scanners II: The New Order

There's some fun gore but something is holding it back and I imagine that it's someone who is trying. They should not have tried. This didn't quite take on the bonkers level it needed to to be as fun as one of the later stupid Amityville sequels. I actually have higher hopes for number III. We should give credit where credit is due as far as Carrie and that one Jason movie being the only two telekinesis movies where the govt. isn't grouping them together.

Not bad, but a big step down in quality from the first movie

Having never had much of a taste for Cronenberg's style, but still appreciating the idea of body horror, I had a glimmer of hope that this one might be better. It seems Cronenberg might not have taken the bad scripts and crappy directing with him, but he certainly took the cool effects and body horror with him. All that's left for us to enjoy is a Canadian with a couple bloody noses. Seriously, who would cast Hewlett as a guy who could blow people's heads up with his mind?
