A group of suburban youths. Back then, in the summer, so long ago. They couldn't leave town because outside the country was at war and the military controlled life and all gateways. The teenagers wander aimlessly about town. Winter is a long way off. And love and longing and friendship still mean everything

Hey, non-Arcade Fire fan here (not for any particular reason), chiming in... This hits the idea of growing up and growing apart perfectly. The interesting backdrop of the military state only adds to it, and isn't the emphasis. Excellent usage of music. I'm rating the full short and not the music video, by the way.

Nice cinematography and a great soundtrack can only do so much. The militaristic back drop felt unneeded and random. The Short would have been a lot better if they didn't use so many damn cut scenes and actually explained things from time to time. The end result felt pretentious. It feels like those who strongly identify with the sentiments of this short end up loving it and the filmmakers couldn't give a damn at trying to make it cohesive for those that don't naturally identify with it.

Successful, at least in terms of establishing a specific tone. The montage sequences, combined with the music, evoke such nostalgia. Still, some of the dialogue scenes fall flat, and I would have liked a little more on how this particular world works.

I was expecting something like an extended Arcade Fire video, but it has a plot and Arcade Fire songs are just being played in the background (this feels kind of awkward). The story about loss of friendship set in dystopian suburbia is well filmed, but flimsy.
