Now when people ask me if I've seen that Brendan Fraiser racism movie I can assume this instead of defiling myself by affirming that I have seen Crash.

A slickly directed, well-acted, moderately gripping drama.

I remember about ten years ago I really didn't like Matt Damon, and then I was forced into seeing Oceans Eleven, and that marked a turning point for me. Damon again is just really good in this, and I think his character just steals the show. Love the 12 Angry Men scene too. I was impressed with Fraser(who I haven't seen much of in films) in the lead. The group fighting scene in the shower was a little different. I was happy that they actually wore ties in the film. Way 2 be true 2 the film.

Not half bad thanks to a very familiar cast. Damon shines and even Fraser isn't half bad.

It's a competent drama, but it tends towards some overdone and over-manipulative moments. See it if you're looking to see some famous faces in early roles. If you're looking to see a moving prep school drama, rewatch Dead Poets' Society.

Half of this movie is spent with prep school white boys debating over who cheated on a test as if their decision holds a weight akin to that of deciding whether someone lives or dies. Then they try to find ways to justify their antisemitism. Woooooooooooahhhhhhhhhhhh #pray4them

I have a soft spot for prep school settings. The '50s football added to that nostalgia. I wish that Matt Damon redeemed himself but was impressed to see that he didn't. Fav scene: the girlfriend freaking out about Fraser being Jewish and trying to justify her decision to not see him anymore as anything other than anti-Semitism, though a lot of it was just selfishness.

Some of the acting is good, but the story is trite and boring. Skip it.

too old for my liking. and brendan fraser was the only decent actor at the time. matt damon is terrible here! this was obviously his very first movie. the other actors are also really bad. and i hate prep school boy movies. and the story gets even worse. why did everyone have to be such bigots?

Remedial lesson on tolerance. Set in the 1950s for additional backwardness, and building toward a moral crisis of duncical simplicity, it teaches greater tolerance for _Au Revoir, les Enfants_, if nothing else.

The movie is not bad, but the impression I had was that I had already seen this pic one hundred times before. Not very original.

Frasers first movie? Yes. Other young future stars? Cool. Racism about Jews, and not blacks? Nice and diverse.

Solid, respectable, meat-and-potatoes evocation of 50s prep school life, which neatly folds in a study of casual and deliberate anti-Semitism. Well produced and performed, with Damon especially great as a weaselly antagonist, but this goes nowhere unexpected, and perhaps takes a little too long getting there. At its best charting the casual, flippantly racist attitudes of its characters and community; turns a little melodramatic and obvious when it bubbles to the surface.
