Standard romantic story. There's not much to recommend here, but good soundtrack and 80s-ness make it bearable.

A solid slice of 80's cheese

Though it has clever moments and has an ambitious narrative, which I appreciated, it also bites off much more than it can chew and that shows the longer it goes on. What carries it is the cast, headed by Loughlin, Howell and Preston, all of whom turn in solid performances and do their best. The plot has some issues, and the characters are largely lacking, but there are some laughs here and there. Ultimately, it's a forgettable '80's rom-com that could have been better.

The film's slapstick treatment of the foibles of the letter-crossed lovers make this film boisterous without being funny.

Quite entertaining 80's teen comedy starring Howell, Preston, Loughlin, Ward and a very young Cor(e)y Haim. It's all very predictable and cheesy, but also quite efficiently directed and gives bigger roles to parents than usually in these films. Fred Ward steals the show as a pissed-off father.
