Whenever I see a movie with dissociative identity disorder as an important plot device I think of that ridiculous movie Charlie Kaufman's brother writes in Adapatation where all the main characters turn out to be the same person, and there's absolutely no way I can take the premise seriously anymore. Secret Window has a few creepy moments, but it's largely a waste of time, money and a perfectly good Johnny Depp.

It's either a window into his soul as a deeply profound glimpse into the nature of a broken man, a moralistic play as a window of opportunity for him to make the right choices in response to his divorce, or a window on his house because the movie is pretty stupid.

When is a twist, not a twist? When you can guess it in the first 15 minutes. And it's greeted with a shrug/groan.

Like everything King writes, it suffers from being written by King.

And I who thought John Turturro couldn't be uncool. All it took was a ridiculously looking hat and, not to mention, one hell of a script - literally.

The novella was a sort of jab at people that cry plagiarism, and the movie is a sort of jab at not boring you to fucking death.

Come on, Johnny. What were you thinking? This is the kind of movie that when it's over, you immediately think, "wow, that sucked."

Johnny Depp is very entertaining to watch, from the start he pulled me in this fictional world. Particularly the first half of this film was quite interesting and thrilling, but at some point I guessed the twist ending which ruined it a little bit for me, though the film still remained entertaining to watch. The atmosphere is good, as is the setting and acting. Overall a nice thriller though I would've liked to see a different twist or no twist at all. The ending shot was a nice touch though.

Not bad. A predictable and overused ending, but the direction is good and the movie keeps a decent pace.

I didn't read the short story and wasn't expecting a twist, so it turned out to be a nice movie. Depp was thoroughly emersed in his character; the other actors performed equally as well.

Two good performances don't make up for a convoluted yet predictable 'mystery.'

Depp is good in the lead, as per usual (a great bit where he strangles the phone while talking to his wife always jumps out at me when I think of this movie). The movie itself? Not so much. Beyond his performance, the rest of it is unintentionally hysterical, with an inconcievably absurd and contrived cliche of an ending. "Yoostolemahstoreh."

Secret Window definitely isn't awful. It's not great either though. It's just an average movie that will most likely be forgotten. The ending is farily predictable, but the build up to the end was alright. Johnny Depp and John Turturro were both good in the film. I would say it's worth watching if it comes on TV, but not worth buying.

I remember liking John Turturro in this and I don't remember hating it, but I can't remember anything about it other than Depp running around so that can't bode too well.

One of the most entertaining "lesser" King adaptations is not particularly scary, with a twist you can see from a mile away, but is great fun thanks to distinguished individual elements; Depp and Turturro are beautifully matched antagonists, with both bringing their 'A' game (has Turturro ever played genuinely menacing before?) Koepp's roving camera amps up the tension, and a fine supporting cast breathe life and humour into their archetypes. No world-beater, but consistently enjoyable.

In typical Stephen King film adaptation fashion, Secret Window presents a well written psychological thriller that unfortunately concludes in an underwhelming third act that plays more hokey than true. Johnny Depp and John Tuturo give fantastic performances to carry the first two acts.

I consider myself functionally retarded when it comes to predicting twists, but this one screamed it out from the first few minutes. No suspense, no thrills. Not even Turturro makes it worth seeing.

I call this movie a “Grower” For a lot of years I would tell you this wasn’t my favorite King adaptation But everytime I watch it I pick up on some new detail or something I never noticed before I love Depp in this role I love his dark humor and practically every word he says drips with sarcasm I also liked John Turturro as well he was great
