Seeing Stars

Footage from the splashy inaugural dinner held to mark the formation of the Independent Film Artist's Guild, an organization of several dozen producers to facilitate and promote their business relationship with First National's network of theaters. At the time, First National was the largest chain without a studio tie. Two years later, they founded their own studio; by decade's end, they were acquired by WB. Some big Hollywood names gathered around a fancy hotel table, but otherwise unexciting.
