Serena

Serena is a boring mess. One has to wonder how it became this bad. There's talent both on-screen and behind the camera, but it only very rarely shines through in the finished product. The plot is a disaster, the characters have no arcs or progression, meaning later actions make no sense. It's a well-shot and designed film, but that's about as positive as one can get when talking about it. This is not a good movie.

If I had a copy of this film's script, I'd whip out a red permanent marker and scrawl on every page, "For the love of God, NOBODY CARES."

Left for dead since 2012, Serena would better serve its stars by burial, not resurrection.

I had to see for myself, if the low ratings here and elsewhere, are deserved. Outstanding cinematography, exquisite casting (particularly of Lawrence as the calculating, ultimately cold wife) of a superb cast at the top of their game in a perfect story that is apparently intended to show that no matter how well done, the '70s downer is as dead as the characters in the genre usually, pointlessly end up being. All in all, 7/10 Go see it. :)

Interesting in the way that a carwreck is sometimes interesting. Bradley Cooper is miscast. Overwrought and ill conceived from beginning to end.

A depressive mess of a movie.

It takes a spectacularly bad script to waste a cast like this. So....well done?

Like a slow moving soap opera, the script and direction are wasted on some fine actors. You might want to bring some ear plugs and eye mask & take a nice nap; you won't need any sleeping pills at all.

Uneven, unengaging and often downright boring.

I wanted it to be good because I expect a lot from this Danish director. And it did start out good. But then it went in to this slow pace and ended being really bizarre. I think I saw what she wanted to tell it just came out weird.. Not a waste of time but *Bad
