Nail-bitingly suspenseful. Riseborough heads a strong cast and gives a powerhouse performance. It's the best thriller in recent memory.

Classy thriller with a slow-burning tension and nice photography. Marsh really knows how to tell an intricate tale without exposition, but instead gives us a real feel for the characters, helped by fine performances all round. It's all pretty moody, although i guess that comes with the subject matter.

Doesn't pack enough to lend itself to scrutiny or warrant repeat viewings but Riseborough's emotionally charged performance elevates this above the middling thriller it would've otherwise turned out to be.

siyasi gerilimlerde odağı, hikayeyi çevreleyen soyut/somut meselelerden ziyade yavan biçimde insan üzerinde tutma ısrarı bazen itici olabilse de shadow dancer bu açıdan şaşırtıcı derecede etkili. ağır temposuyla hem gerilimi yükseltip hem anlatıyı derinleştirmesi, hikayede belli karakterlerin arayış/paranoyasını izleyiciye yansıtışıyla atmosfer kuruşu kalburüstü. ama vurucu bir anlatımı/anlatıcısı olmayışı bu iyi yanları törpülüyor. riseborough harika.

Extremely well made movie about the IRA. Andrea Risebororugh is just awesome and she looks like the quintessential Irish girl. Clive Owen has a strange part in this but really didn't make an impression. Gillian Anderson pretty much has a short cameo. There are a lot of dry parts to this film, you might find yourself to be bored at times, when the suspense part of this drama pops up it will have you fired up and thirsting for more. The ending could use some work, I was confused by it.

I could look at her face for hours, which is just as well because the direction's a neat mix of intimately close and (appropriately) Elephant '89 doc-style. There's something strange about it; colour symbology and rhythm-wise and it -refreshingly- doesn't explain every little detail. Terrorism as familial and bureaucratic 'business'.

Usual BBC style and quality, overall above average despite taking really slow pace.

A small but ultimately effective and slightly naive political thriller.

I think this film portrays well the fear and paranoia that must have oft stalked IRA cells when it was suspected they had an informer in their ranks. Also enjoyed the several moral ambiguities thrown up. What hobbles this film though is that the two main characters, especially the Englishman, make actions & decisions that just don't seem plausible

I didn't care for the end one bit, but up until that point Shadow Dancer is a film draped in entrancingly dry suspense. Hope to see more of Riseborough in future.

It has the sheen of an ITV one off drama...not that it's a bad thing. But I feel that if it was shown on the BBC or something - it would be hailed as one the years greatest tv dramas. As a film, though, it's decidedly average. Interesting characters...'meh' execution.

Well made, but mostly boring. It rallies towards the end, but as a whole it's just average at best.

Rarely has a 100-minute movie felt so damn long.
