Just the right amount of Shaft but its missing a big chunk of Shaft. Isaac Hayes is tragically missing and replaced with some really unfunky Shaft music that I just cannot dig. I wish to be a fly on the wall during the Manitoba motion picture rating board meeting where a guy went all 12 Angry Men Juror #8 to talk everyone into giving THIS a PG rating. A Canadian PG boob legend.

Tries too hard and lacks vibes of the original. The music is very hit and miss, the characters are an odd mix with a clarinet playing Italian mobster being one of the strangest. The fights while energetic aren't very well staged and filmed. This is a real step down from Shaft but it's not horrible so that's a plus.

Park's direction is more confident in this sequel, and there is a wonderfully staged action sequence in shipping docks that demonstrates his superior understanding of space, at least, or perhaps especially, in the context of so called 'blaxploitation'. On the whole, it lacks the freshness of the original, as well as Hayes' iconic theme, but it is undoubtedly superior in terms of craft, and Roundtree's 'cool' is seemingly eternal.

Moves a bit too slow and most of the exciting parts only happen in the last act of the movie. The car chase is pretty exciting, though.

The plot had a bit of a GTA vibe to it. That's definitely not a bad thing. Pretty enjoyable stuff, even though it never becomes truly awesome.

Box Versátil Shaft - A Trilogia Clássica.

It isn't amazing, but Shaft is just so badass. Every word he says is just awesome. Cool soundtrack too

This film is not as good as the first in the series but there are some fun scenes. Richard Roundtree does a good job with the lead role again but there are not many other interesting performances in this movie. Overall I would recommend this film.

The good stuff ... the writer, director and star return ... as does Moses Gunn and Bundini Brown. The bad stuff ... Isaac Hayes does not return. That's kind of indicative of the problem here. If you think about what's memorable about "Shaft" and what really works about it, you probably wouldn't say much about the plot or the direction. It's serviceable and gets a lot of mileage out of Roundtree's charisma, but it's not a remarkable Blaxploitation outing.
