A hypocritical romance in the orient with a anti-racist message.... filled with blatant Hollywood racism! Got to love it when the black maid talk about his those disgusting 'coolies' having no intellect because they're slave workers! The difficult love between the (secretly) Eurasian Charles Boyer and rich white girl Loretta Young is an intriguing one filled with genuine feelings, disgust, insecurity and an weird appeal for the different. Not the most grasping drama, but has a touching moments.
