Shaolin Rescuers

There's a bit of slowing down in the second half when some plot needs to happen, but all in all this was a highly enjoyable romp. A lot of acrobatic moves on display, diverse and frequent fights, pretty decent main characters I actually gave a damn about, and a deliciously busy finale to go out with a bang. Plus the villains defeat a martial arts master by kicking him in the balls, which will never not be funny to me.

Chang Cheh directs some of the original 5 Venoms in this awesome kung fu flick. Nonstop action and bloodshed.

Even though I am a huge fan of the genre, I had a very hard time enjoying this film. The fight choreography is at times abysmal. Sword play is not believable with several unconvincing sequences repeated 3 times in a row. It is very hard to find something to like. It does have several moments of good fighting in the ending sequences, but it is just a smattering amidst a high volume of unconvincing match-ups.

Lots of big names but just a mediocre movie. The movie takes a long time to get going and there are lots of comedy scenes, most of which I didn't find funny. The end fights were fun but the deaths seemed to be played for laughs which made things a little awkward.
