One of few Hammer films in fantasy/adventure genre and unfortunately not a very engaging one. Still, with a cast like this (Andress, Cushing and Lee), it's worth a watch for fans.

Looks cheap and sounds cheap, but its saving grace is that it never takes itself too seriously (and Andress proves again that she has true movie-star presence, even behind a variably convincing dub). Cushing, Lee and Cribbins are all fine, though Richardson makes for a pretty spectacular dolt as a leading man.

Any movie with Ursula Andress and Christopher Lee in a series of increasingly silly hats can't be a complete waste. A bunch of cheesy white goddess cliches mixed with the usual Hammer style. Not bad, but nothing special.

The opening intro to the 3 "adventurers" is everything the rest of the film is not: tightly paced & breezy fun. Then they set off on their "adventure" - an ordeal meant to test the worthiness of the least interesting of the 3 by making him (& them) walk -- for 30 minutes. It's plodding & unimaginative & for an "epic adventure" this fails miserably. Even the sought after hidden city is banal with Andress' ceremonial garb & some ugly racial stereotypes being the only impressive things on display.

two words: Ursula goggles. And also - is it just me or is the final sentence in the summary a little off kilter?

Like many Hammer films, slow to start with little pay off. John Richardson is an incredibly bland lead, but the rest of the cast do well with their roles.

A pretty enjoyable romp. Andress looks great, and sounds good too (thanks to her dub). Not the nicest gal on the planet, but I guess immortality has its tradeoffs. A couple of strangely named characters (A Stain? Bill Bailey?). Christopher Lee looked like Frank Zappa in some alternate universe. The map reminded me of the title sequence from Wild Women of Wongo! The native girls were billed as the Oo-Bla-Da Dancers (a Beatles inspiration?).

Dull and stupid. At least things get better in the final third. Andress looks the part.
