Amusing, but not great. I'd never seen West in anything before, so that part of it was entertaining. But the story is a little slow and the novelty of watching yesteryear's version of a sexpot doesn't make up for it.

"She Done Him Wrong" is boring and trivial. Lousy plot, and not at all funny when it tries to be. And how the hell did Mae West manage to be so fuckin annoying? Can't stand her. Furthermore she's not at all the big, hot mesmerizing beauty she's supposed to be in the movie. But she wrote it herself of course, so what can you expect.

looking back, i should have known something when "pre-code" is said over and over again about this film but no one goes on and on saying it's "classic" or "good" or "funny". an hour of nothing going on, just men falling for mae west because of...well supposedly her "good looks" and "charm" but she doesn't have those. and that ending? what a piece of garbage. i only sat through this because i knew it was short. not worth watching except as a historical curiosity

There it is. Mae West's ego on screen for an entire hour. Thankfully, it isn't any longer and Cary Grant makes things a bit more tolerable, but overall, pretty brutal to sit through.

Mae West is a terrible actress and an even worse singer. I also haven't heard a woman so inaccurately described as beautiful since The Room. The sexuality is the only reason this film has any notoriety, and as a novelty then, it's a general piece of crap now. In this beautiful world be live in full of HBO and internet porn, I don't need to sit through 66 minutes of crap in hopes of glancing some titty meat.

Man, Mae West just sounded like the '30's - chewing so much dialogue like gristle we forget she kills a woman by the end. It's a plod of a film, but it's all about West sauntering into a room and throwing her hips and innuendos around so flippantly it led to the Legion of Decency. On that note, the Film School in me wants to say something about the law in the movie outwardly trying to bring her to justice but secretly - and eventually - bedding her, as a kind of career foreshadowing.

Everything in this film is a set up for Mae West's lines. That she delivers them with such verve and wit makes it an enjoyable experience. But outside of that, the rest of the film just kind of hangs there limply--without the requisite fire or gumption to get even West's prodigious attentions.

It was a pretty easy film to watch. It was only just over an hour long, for one. West was very likeable, and her dialogue especially was quite witty. It's very much a 1930s film, and, frankly, a little racist. Overall, I enjoyed it.

Amusing, but the comic timing isn't quite there and while Mae West is appealing, it's hard to buy the huge fuss made for her.

Sixty minutes of Mae West being Mae West is really hard to beat.

This was my first Mae West vehicle, and she is ... interesting. She does a good job at that, though. As others have noted, it's ridiculous that every man in the movie is head over heels for her, and the ending is awful, but it's worth seeing for her iconic role, I guess. At least it's only about 70 min long.

Cary Grant is nothing more than window dressing in this top-of-the-line Mae West vehicle. The only problem with SHE DONE HIM WRONG is . . . once you've seen MY LITTLE CHICKADEE you have seen the Best of West and all of her other movies suffer by comparison.

Pop movies usually have short lifetimes and after that they become hopelessly outdated. Hopelessly? How will they look like after, say, 70 years when most part of frame of reference has disappeared? As I have very little idea what vaudeville has actually looked like and most moral issues of the movie look very different to me, this movie has got a certain surrealistic glow, like it was made in another planet.

This is a tough movie to watch, due to the lack of plot and characterization, other than Mae West purring out her one-liners filled with sexual innuendo. Decent for a historical point of reference, with a few spots that should evoke chuckles, but definitely less than a classic.

Dated with not much of a plot but Mae West is an intriguing actress from a different era.

I was initially harsher but i'm adding 9 points to it comparing it to her other films. It's concise, bonkers, got a very tiny Cary Grant, so all around a good time.

I know I've only seen two of Mae West's movies, but does she always play the same kind of character? Although she ends up with Grant in, i believe, both movies (I'm no angel is the other one i saw), there isn't any chemistry between them at all. You really don't expect them to get together in the end ever because of that. Sure, the story is interesting, but it's no different from the other movies she did.

Pre-Code films were dark and violent and sexy, and this here's all three. It's a decent time. Nowhere near as much Cary Grant as I'd like, but what there is is great. Mae West ooooooozes sex appeal. And her outfits! They're all amazing!

The movie is shot in a very detailed and elegant way by Lowell Sherman who capture the saloon atmosphere perfectly. The story is fine with many good actors to do their part, but more important then the story is Mae West being Mae West. That is where the curiosity lay the hardest in this production. "Why don't you come up some time and see me?" - The line that became an iconic catchphrase. And it has been parodied countless times. Mostly of cartoons of the 30's & 40's.
